Boat people
We believe this undated photo was taken on Eagle Lake in Maple Grove, which was pure country when Annette and Hart lived there in the 1940s and '50s. That's Alverna, Emma and Elmer. The back of the photo refers to Alverna as "Slugger," her nickname.

When we played softball as kids, Alverna was the heavy hitter, hence the nickname, Slugger.
