The beach outside Monterey, Calif., was a favorite place for the Millers during Dad/Uncle Bill's stint in Army language school at Fort Ord. He learned to speak Czech expertly there, and afterward would be transferred to Germany to use those skills in Army intelligence work. The Millers loved the cool, windy beach.
