This lovely young deer has taken up residence this winter outside Chris and Mary Miller's house in Centerville, where it dines on Mary's raspberry plants and slumbers in the shelter just outside their basement patio window. Care is taken to make sure little Ava and Elizabeth don't let it in the house! Here, Ava and the deer eye each other through the glass, as they do daily. We hope the deer, who they've dubbed Milo, makes her way back to the safer realm of the woods when spring comes. (1/23/2010 UPDATE: Uh oh, the deer has passed away of unknown causes as it appeared to sleep by the patio door, we're sad to report.)
