A family cruise

When Aunt Anna retired from teaching in the Red Wing, Minn., public schools in 1985, her family celebrated by hijacking the Hiawatha excursion boat and sailing it all over Lake Pepin, apparently unsupervised. A few photos from their three-hour tour: The petite guest of honor with the very tall Steve Pepin, a descendant of the folks for whom the Spricks' favorite lake was named. Katie, Janie, Bridget and Marion wore their best sailing clothes. It's probably the closest this gang has gotten to yacht-style sailing. Annette, Florence and Virgil (Bud) Bye posed in front of a pretty Lake Pepin sailboat. Anna, Jerry (Who is Jerry? We have no idea. A Sprick wannabe?), Bill and Elmer hung out on the deck. We hope Anna didn't get seasick.
