All the aunts were beauties, but Adelaide Sprick Detlefsen, the oldest child of Claus and Maria, especially stood out. Here she is in a colorized portrait from her youth, giving Chatsie some extra TLC during the months the Millers lived with the Detlefsens, and with Grandma Sprick's roses.
Adelaide, born Sept. 16, 1908, would have been 99 years old this year. Sadly, she died relatively young, in a car accident in Red Wing, Minn., on Aug. 23, 1973.
