The steamer trunk in which 28-year-old Hinrich Augustin (Grandma Sprick's dad) carried all of his possessions to America in 1881 now sits in the scrapblog editor's basement. Aunt Annette refinished it in the 1990s. The plaque she put on it tells its story.
