Strange rituals of the native Spricks: The Stump-in
One of the great rites of the Sprick family, particularly in the 1970s, was the yearly "Stump-in" at Joe and Mavis' Wisconsin property. The cousins have fond memories of those laid-back, food-and-humor-based events in the beautiful woods.
And what they can't remember, they'll soon learn anew, because the scrapblog editor just found a mother lode of material in the basement trunk, including invitations, menus, agendas and speeches from Stump-ins. There's also a pile of Burnt Wienie nominations, oh boy. That trunk has enough material to keep this blog going for YEARS, cousins, if you can stand it.
Above are a few photos from Stump-ins, to whet your appetite. The top three are from 1975. The first features Chats Miller nominating someone for the Burnt Wienie Award as Chris, Joe, Dan, Tuck and Sam listen. In the second, John and Joe Kirkwood kibbutz with LeRoy Sprick. In the second, Alverna plays it up as the Blueberry Queen as Annette, Jane, Joe and Anna look on. In the last, year not marked, you'll recognize a whole bunch of relatives.
Note Uncle Joe's ubiquitous tape-recorder. If he still has those tapes and we can figger out how to get sound into the scrapblog, we'll add it.
